Convective heat fluxΒΆ

This boundary condition is used to define a Convective heat flux from boundary faces of the domain to the environment. The magnitude of the heat flux as well as its direction (heat entering or leaving the body) is dependent on the reference temperature (also environmental temperature \(T_{env}\)) and the convection coefficient \(h\). Note that the convection coefficient does not only depend on the surrounding fluid but is a property of the surrounding fluid flow. Including the calculated temperature \(T\) on the surface of the domain the convective heat flux is given by:
