Proven Workflow

Simulate SOLIDWORKS models in the cloud

You can simulate native SOLIDWORKS parts and assemblies directly in SimScale while continuing to design on your local computer..

SOLIDWORKS and SimScale

How it works

Simulate SOLIDWORKS models in 3 steps

01

Native format support

Save SOLIDWORKS models in their native file formats and directly upload them to SimScale — no translation losses.

02

Cloud-native simulation setup

Set up and run sophisticated multiphysics simulations. Your computer is free while the simulations run in the cloud.

03

Integrated online post-processor

New design versions are associatively imported from SOLIDWORKS, retaining simulation settings for a fast, iterative design process.

SimScale and SOLIDWORKS

SimScale’s CAD associativity lets your geometries be swapped while retaining load and boundary condition assignments — speeding up iteration and letting you focus on results and design innovation.

Benefits

  • Simulate without extensive local hardware or complex installations.
  • Access a native workflow with no need to export non-native SOLIDWORKS formats.
  • CAD associativity swaps geometries while retaining load and boundary condition assignments.
  • Rapidly explore multiple CAD designs without remapping simulation assignments.

How it works

You can also create a “Pack and Go” from Windows Explorer with File Utilities — right-click a SOLIDWORKS file, navigate to SOLIDWORKS in the menu, and select Pack and Go.

  • Open the part, drawing, or assembly you would like to simulate and select Pack and Go under File.
  • Select which associated files are to be included.
  • Check Save to Zip Folder.
  • Select Browse to choose where to save the Zip file and name it appropriately. Save.
  • Drag and drop the zip file into the SimScale import geometry window.
