  • SimScale Employees Benefiting from In-House German Courses

Our international employees who are based in Munich often face challenging language barriers. Knowing German can make life in Germany so much easier, be it at a restaurant, kindergarten, post office, reading German letters, or making local friends.

Learning German while working a full-time job can be a real challenge. Most employees have little time and energy left after a full workday and commuting to a private language school after work is exhausting. In addition, German takes several years to master — a real hustle while working full-time.

    In-House German Courses

While SimScale is a fully English-speaking company, we still offer optional support to employees who want to learn German or any other language. Several years ago, SimScale started offering in-house German courses. We wanted to support employees learning German in the office and during work hours. Our most successful German cohort started in 2022. The group has successfully completed 5 German courses in a row and is still committed to continue. Let’s hear from some of the participants.

    Beka

“Living in Germany forces you to speak German in situations like in the kindergarten, the post office, or direct phone calls. Back then, I used to feel stressed whenever I had to speak German. The German course offers a lot of interaction and opportunities to speak German. We get to practice a lot. Nowadays, I even like learning German. Speaking German now feels much easier than ever before.”  – Beka Beruashvili, Senior Operations Manager

    Elisabetta

“Before I started the course, I had been struggling with speaking German. Having casual conversations was a big challenge for me. SimScale’s German course provides a safe space for me to speak German. We can practice in a safe environment and we’re encouraged to make mistakes. We get to speak a lot in the classes, so now, after 5 courses, I feel much more confident to speak German.” – Elisabetta Chimisso, CAD Developer

    Peter

“In the past, I struggled to find a German course with the right settings. Private German classes required a long commute after working hours. The courses were too heavy with little conversations. SimScale’s German classes are very different: We learn German during working hours and the teacher comes directly to our office. We get encouraged to speak a lot and are allowed to make mistakes. I have saved a lot of time and improved my grammar and conversation skills.” – Peter Toth, Software Engineer

    Shang-Hsin

“Dealing with everyday situations in Germany was a challenge, like making reservations at a restaurant, ordering something at the pharmacy, or understanding random conversations. My goal was to navigate daily situations successfully. The German courses have helped; I see improvements in all scenarios.” – Shang-Hsin Yu, Software Developer
