Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about plans or pricing? Here are the answers we give most often.

Contact
How can I cancel my subscription?

Easily. You can cancel anytime in your account page and your subscription won’t renew after the end of your current contract period.

What plans does SimScale offer?

SimScale offers four plans: Community (free, for testing and learning), Mechanical (for structural and thermal simulation work), Professional (for higher-fidelity, multi-physics work), and Enterprise (for broad simulation roll-outs). Mechanical, Professional and Enterprise are custom-priced – request pricing for a quote.

Which plans include Engineering AI and Physics AI?

Physics AI is available as an option on the Mechanical and Professional plans and is included with Enterprise. Engineering AI (agentic AI) is available with the Enterprise plan. Learn more about Engineering AI and Physics AI.

Do all collaborators need a paid account?

No. Visitors that only need to review simulations are always free with every plan. Individual users can collaborate through SimScale with their own accounts. Users that need to run simulations will need a paid account.

Can I share login credentials with a colleague?

No, each login must be associated with an authorized user but volume pricing for more multiple logins is available.

Can I use SimScale across multiple devices?

Of course!

How can I pay?

Subscriptions can be paid for via PO / invoice.

Can I use SimScale as a hobbyist?

Yes – either via the Community plan or apply for SimScale’s power user program here.

What are Standard Analysis Types?

This is all CFD and FEA Analysis Types, that aren’t within ‘Specialized’ (see below).

What are Specialized Analysis Types?

This includes: Electromagnetics, Multi-purpose, LBM (GPU) and Pedestrian Wind Comfort (GPU).

What are CAD plugins?

These are connections between your CAD system and SimScale that keep your geometry in sync – update the model in your CAD tool and the simulation setup follows. SimScale supports a broad range of CAD systems including SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion, Inventor, PTC Creo, Solid Edge, FreeCAD and Rhino, plus Onshape, which is cloud-based and requires no installation. See all CAD integrations.

Community Plan

What happens after I reached the maximum simulation limit?

You will be able to run simulations as before, but only see qualitative simulation output, not quantitative anymore.

What is available on the Community Plan?

Most standard CFD and FEA analysis types, with up to 10 simulations – free for testing and learning. Quantitative results are available up to the simulation limit.

Mechanical Plan

What is available on the Mechanical Plan?

The Mechanical plan covers all standard structural and thermal analysis types, with private projects, unlimited simulations and live support from simulation experts. Specialized types such as Nonlinear Mechanical (Marc) and Physics AI are available as options.

Who is the Mechanical Plan for?

It’s built for teams focused on structural and thermal simulation work who need private projects and expert support, without the full multi-physics scope of the Professional plan.

Professional Plan

What is available on the Professional Plan?

All standard CFD and FEA simulation types. The following are available with an additional subscription: Electromagnetics, Multi-purpose, LBM (GPU) and Pedestrian Wind Comfort (GPU).

What does ‘unlimited simulations’ mean?

There is no limit on the number of simulations you can run, as long as you have core hours available.

What counts as 1 core hour?

One core hour is counted when a simulation or meshing job runs for 1 hour on 1 computing core. The more hours or computing cores are used, the higher the core hour count.

How can I add more core hours to my account?

After you reached your included core hour quota, overage use will be billed monthly based on your rates. You can also turn off overage use. Volume discounts apply if you buy a package upfront.

Enterprise Plan

What is included in the Enterprise Plan?

Enterprise includes everything in the Professional plan plus Engineering AI and Physics AI, dedicated API support, a dedicated technical account manager, and custom integrations. Users, core hours and computing instances are all custom-sized to your organization.

Does the Enterprise Plan include Engineering AI?

Yes. Engineering AI (agentic AI) is available with the Enterprise plan, alongside Physics AI. Learn more about Engineering AI.
