Formula Student UK is a student design competition organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers which challenges students teams to design, develop, fabricate, and build a small Formula-style race car. Formula Student UK brings together more than 80 teams from around the world to compete at the Silverstone Circuit. The cars are judged by industry specialists in a series of static and dynamic events where they receive points based on their performance. The winner of the event is the team with the highest number of points out of a maximum of 1000. The 2017 Formula Student competition was held at the Silverstone Circuit on July 20-23, 2017.
Online Workshop | Applications of CFD in Formula Student
During this 4-session online workshop, students will receive a hands-on, interactive introduction to the fundamentals of race car aerodynamics and CFD from leading motorsport aerodynamics experts. Completing the course will enable participants to create precise CFD simulations of their car design and improve their own CFD methodology.
Students who attend the sessions and complete all four homework assignments will receive a SimScale Certificate of Completion which can be added to a resume or course profile on Linkedin.
Presenters and Guest Speakers for this Course
Torbjörn Larsson, Former Head of CFD at Sauber, BMW and Ferrari
Rene Hilhorst, Former Head of Aerodynamics at Toyota Motorsport
Niklas Pfeiffer, Head of Aerodynamics, eMotorsports Cologne Formula Student Team
