At SimScale, we have a dedicated team that works not only from our headquarters in Munich, but also from the United States in our New York and Boston offices. We spoke with our New York-based Account Executive, Shannon Fish, to find out what she thinks about her role, working for SimScale, and more.
Name: Shannon Fish
Position: Account Executive
Time at SimScale: 10 months
Shannon, you recently got a promotion, congratulations! How does it feel to be an Account Executive?
“It’s been great. I started off as a Sales Development Representative and was promoted back in February to Account Executive. What I enjoy most about being an Account Executive is being so hands-on with our users. From the moment they first sign up, through their evaluation up until they decide to partner with us, I am with them every step of the way. Being able to collaborate and create long term partnerships with such a diverse group of people, is something I truly enjoy.”
What does a typical day as an Account Executive look like?
“My day consists of a lot of calling. First, I call our new users who have just signed up. It’s very important for us to understand what our users are currently working on, and to see if we can assist them with their evaluation. I will then schedule technical calls with my colleague and Application Engineer, Matt, to take them through the platform. Additionally, throughout the day I am always connecting with our support team to help our users who have reached out via our live chat.”
What is your ‘start-the-day’ ritual?
“It’s funny, my colleagues always make fun of me for having a massive box of cheerios in my desk drawer. I’m not a huge coffee girl, but as long as I have my bowl of cereal in the morning I am good to go.”
What do you enjoy most about working at SimScale?
“I would say the collaboration. During the interview process, I had the opportunity to interview with various teams. Fast forward 10 months, and it’s very much the same. I am constantly interacting with our application engineering, customer success, marketing, and product teams. It’s a great feeling to be a part of a company that is so transparent, and where everyone is working towards a common goal.”
What does working for SimScale from the US office feel like?
“It’s great. We have a fantastic team here in the US. Although SimScale’s headquarters are based in Munich, we still stay connected. There have been several occasions where I’ve collaborated with colleagues even though we are in different time zones. Last year, we even had the opportunity to fly out to Munich and meet the team. It was very exciting to visit Europe for the first time and finally sit down with my colleagues face-to-face.”
What would you say are three things you can’t live without?
“Definitely my cat Lil’ Mama. What else? My family. I have to put my family first, and then the cat of course. Third I would say is my passport. This past year, I had the opportunity to travel to Italy. The food alone was incredible, but seeing the Duomo and the statue of David is something I will never forget.”
What makes SimScale unique to you?
“Our product and our team. For many years, simulation has been out of reach to thousands of users. Here at SimScale, we believe in the democratization of simulation. We have been able to put simulation in the hands of users and companies who never thought it would be possible for them to do in-house. As a result, we have built a global community of over 200,000 users that’s rapidly growing every day. I truly believe the reason we have such a great product is because we have a great team. I am surrounded by such talented and motivated people. We not only listen to each other, but we listen to our customers. I think that is why our product has come such a long way and is going to go so far in the future.”
Thank you, Shannon!
