  • My Life at SimScale: Beka Beruashvili, Senior Operations Manager

BlogLife At SimScaleMy Life at SimScale: Beka Beruashvili, Senior Operations Manager

In this installment of “My Life at SimScale”, we want to introduce to you Beka Beruashvili, who is originally from Georgia and works as a Senior Operations Manager in the Munich office! In this article, Beka shares some insights into what his day looks like as well as some challenges and highlights that he has encountered so far.

    Name: Beka Beruashvili

    From: Georgia

    Position: Senior Operations Manager

    Time at SimScale: 2 years

Beka, what are your responsibilities here at SimScale?

Many things actually! Owning the IT Infrastructure, managing and supporting employee workspaces, office infrastructure, and the sales and marketing operations. I automate tasks so they can easily access high-quality info regarding leads and customers, allowing our teams to go into calls with all the customer info they need. It ranges from IT and everything in between, as well as technical support.

What does your typical day look like?

It usually starts with checking Slack messages (I usually have a lot in the morning since they sometimes come in overnight from our US colleagues). A lot of people need a lot of different things and I follow up on their requests. I work on automating and improving infrastructure and improving processes for sales and marketing, and I have lots of meetings too.

After working hours I enjoy spending time with my kids! They are 8 and 2 years old. I pick them up after kindergarten, go outside with them and play in the park or at the playground.

What is important in your role as a Senior Operations Manager?

Being available when people are “on fire”. Being reliable and providing solutions and security. There are lots of malicious activities in the tech world, so protecting our data and infrastructure is very crucial.

What would you say are some of the challenges you have faced so far?

Maintaining the right level of availability to support our colleagues. Being part of a small support team in a growing company can be challenging at times. However, we are hiring in order to offer more support, which is really exciting.

What has been your favorite project so far?

Automating some of the processes in Salesforce has been really interesting and challenging at the same time. It’s always fun to implement new features and new applications in our existing infrastructure. It means that you have to put on your engineering hat to introduce new systems and ensure cohesive integration.

What has your career journey/progress at SimScale been so far?

I’m originally from Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, where I was working for one of the largest companies in the country. I was interested in moving to Germany because my younger brother has lived here for 8 years. Munich is one of the best cities, so I wanted to live there! I was attracted to SimScale because of our super international environment and relaxed work culture. Initially, I started as an IT Systems Admin and then was promoted 1.5 years later to Senior Operations Manager. My supervisor saw that I was capable of doing a lot more and had the skills to work on broader topics. I demonstrated my ability to do this over several quarters and was always overachieving my OKRs. So it made sense to give me more responsibility and this is why I was promoted.

What makes SimScale unique to you?

The level of flexibility that SimScale provides and the team culture. It is a very good and healthy environment and the company’s management is great, too. We work with very professional team players.

What do you enjoy about living in Germany?

Lots of green spaces, good beer, and Schweinshaxe (pork leg)!

What do you miss the most about Georgia?

My friends and family the most, but I get to visit them, so it’s not too bad!

When are you the most productive?

    After my morning coffee!

Moving forward, what are you the most excited about at SimScale?

As we try to be innovative and future-oriented, I’m excited to see how SimScale can help design solutions faster for a better world! I’m excited about the product and how it can transform the future.

    Thank you, Beka!
