Mesh issues with details/openings in geometry

My most recent mesh on the 4th iteration of this project (Incompressible 4 - run 1) was completed, but was not refined enough for the small wind skirt vents in the front of the model. The mesh filled those vents as the space narrowed. I can’t figure out how to refine those specific spots enough to keep those vents open. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Increasing fineness from coarse to moderate exceeds the available processing. I have Cartesian boxes over those places, but I’m not sure they’re doing what I think they do.

Thanks for your help. I am just getting into CFD, 3D modeling as a hobby, so the jargon and nuance to these processes are often over my head.

I think I figured out how to make the refinements work correctly.

Hey @djhoufek ,

That’s great to know. These are some tutorials to generate mesh of different types: SimScale Tutorials and User Guides | Cloud-Based CAE | SimScale The tutorials using different solvers should also be very helpful in general. Example.

You can read more about how you can check mesh quality here.

Cheers!
