Heat transfer analysis

Hello.
I recently started my first simulation about thermal comfort in a room and I am having a difficult time to get my simulation to give me the data I need. First question is, what i choose, convective heat transfer or conjugate heat transfer?

I used this tutorial(Thermal Comfort In a Meeting Room | Tutorial | SimScale) as a starting point. In my simulation, heat transfer is performed through natural convection and radiation(through radiators), not forced convection. So, what is boundary condition for flow inlet/outlet(my room has only 2 windows and a door)? Also, what sould i select for “assigned volumes” when i define and assign a material (air)?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Hello @Raul20,

There’s a pretty important step missing, from the very beginning of the simulation setup. The geometry currently consists of the solid parts of the room:

To run the simulation, you will need a single volume representing the flow region:

In short, you have to create the flow volume in CAD mode, and then delete the solid parts. This article provides more insights: How to Create Flow Volume Extraction? | Knowledge Base | SimScale

Cheers

Whai should i select for seed face, boundary face and excluded parts?

Hi, the error message suggests that there is a gap somewhere in the model, connecting the environments internal & external to the room.

This could be for example a gap between the walls and the door/windows/floor/ceiling. I’d suggest double checking the CAD model.

On your question about boundary faces/excluded parts: please double check the article that I linked in my previous message. On seed faces, this article should provide more insights if needed.

Cheers
