Duct airflow simulation

Hi Guys. I’m a complete rookie with cad / simscale.

I have a step file from a 3d scan

for one of my hand formed ducts. air flowing through it is the point of focus.

I would like to see if I’m achieving true ram air through it or a rough estimate for what cfm it is flowing vs road speed if possible

I’m happy to pay someone to develop a simulation with some flow numbers.

Perhaps, navigating through the SimScale Project library will help locate a similar example.

Hey @Tk_gtr

How’s it going? Starting with CAD and Simulation might feel like it’s too much for sure. Your use case is a very common CFD application. However, we can only provide you with tips on your simulation setup for you to be able to do it yourself!

For flow simulations, it would be nice to start with some of our incompressible solver tutorials. These are particularly about internal flows (I understand this is what you want to achieve).

Hint: The first step would be to create a flow region using your duct geometry. You can do this after importing the CAD into SimScale. After that, you can setup a flow simulation (just like in the above tutorials) on the created flow region.

Let us know how it goes!

Cheers,
Satvik

If you already have the geometry file it should not be too hard to do, if you can post the geometry here i can try helping you with it (for free).
