Unable to find facet error; Error keeps on returning

  • A description of the project and what you are trying to achieve
I’m trying to achieve an incompressible flow sim around a simpler update to the 1970 F312B Front Wing. I have previously done this with the actual 1970 front wing and encountered the same issue. However this time I am unable to find the triangular face.

No error logs - Automatic face split of facet bodies produced faces made of a single triangle. Please consider cleanup operations in your CAD tool.

Hi @oemerald, thanks for posting at our forum

That seems to be caused by the fact that, upon import, the facet splitting is not very good for some parts of the model. Look at the trailing edge of the wing, for instance:

There are small faces made out of single triangles which will make it hard to simulate.

That usually happens when trying to use STL files for simulation. Is there a way to export your file in other format, such as STEP or Parasolid?

Another piece of advice I’d give to you would be to cut the trailing edge a bit short, in order for the boundary layers to fit better to it, such as here.

Best,
Igor
