Struggle with CFD on a car

Hello, I’m running CFD analysis for a student formula car and specifically working on running a simulation for a nosecone. I set up my simulation and tried defining the part as a no slip Wall in the boundary conditions, but when I try running the simulation I have an error of “Please ensure that all CAD entities are assigned a material or advanced concept. Missing material or advanced concepts were detected for the following entities: solid1” and “Invalid boundary condition: Wall 5 has been assigned to at least one body without a material assignment: solid1. Please remove this body from the boundary condition assignment.” My nose cone is called solid1. I see many other simulations have it as a deleted body but this doesn’t seem to help. Should I be defining this material for a 40 mph model? Thank you!

Hi,

From your description it sounds like you are trying to run an incompressible simulation having 2 volumes in the CAD: a flow region and the solid nose cone. Running incompressible simulations with solid parts does not work, so you would need to delete the nose cone after generating the flow region.

Such workflow is explored in various tutorials:

PS: make sure to review the direction of your velocity inlet and moving wall boundary conditions. The velocity vector is pointing in the wrong direction.

Cheers
