Simulation Error

Hello,

We managed to solve the meshing issue from our last post by uploading the dxf file and extruding and editing the cad Parasolid file on Onshape and then transferring to the simulation project which solved the meshing issue.

I got a successful run with this project,
https://www.simscale.com/workbench/?pid=7685761184916602308&mi=spec%3A91c7d8d8-b35f-4a99-9951-c1e5e4094efc%2Cservice%3ASIMULATION%2Cstrategy%3A35&ps=analysis%2FboundaryConditions%2F3,
namely the simulation “Compressible 3_10” with four successful runs. I copied the same settings and boundary conditions for a newly shaped wing, 2412 but the simulation failed with the same “Maximum number of iterations exceeded when calculating temperature from a thermodynamic potential. This may be caused by low-quality mesh producing unrealistic pressure in a few cells or inappropriate boundary conditions, fluid properties or time steps. Inspect fields for large values in the last time step. Learn more.” error message even though all the settings are the same. There are no problems with the mesh since I followed the earlier solution through Onshape and the meshing log seems to be in order. No other parts of the simulation settings show error messages and thus we are left with a very vague error message.

It will be very helpful if anyone can help me with it.

Hi @gupta126579, thanks for posting on the forum. Please refer to my answer here: Meshing issues

Thank you, but we have already added all the steps from your past reply.

Thanks @gupta126579, now let’s turn to a couple of other alternatives:

  1. Add a Volume custom sizing refinement near the airfoil
  2. Increase the boundary layer’s refinements on the airfoil’s surface using an Inflate Boundary Layer refinement. This will lower the y+ values of the boundary layers’ cells and will help with the near-wall behavior.

This y+ calculator should be very useful. For an article on what y+ is, check here.

Let us know if any of these work.

Cheers
