Hi,
I’m trying to simulate cryostat where the insulation is by vacuum using the Conjugate Heat Transfer v2.0 4 module. But when I run the project it always displays this warning: The surface to surface radiation toggle was enabled and the simulation only contains solids. This toggle will have no effect in the simulation. and the result of the simulation is not showing heat transfer between the solids by radiation. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Hi @egranados, thanks for posting on the forum and welcome to the SimScale Community
For the solids to actually emit radiation, they should be enclosed by a medium, i.e., a flow volume. If you only have solids in contact in your setup, radiation would not be able to propagate.
Take a look here to learn more about how SimScale works with radiation.
Cheers

Hi again, I’m trying with a very simple model where I just draw two solids (wood and iron) surrounded by a external flow volume. I created a new fluid material the I called vacuum. Later I impose some boundary conditions for the temperature of some faces and when I try to run the simulation it is giving me the following error: Please ensure that each face only has a single boundary condition or interface assignment. Multiple boundary condition or interface assignments for the following entities: face122@Part 2, face128@Part 2, face124@Part 2, more . https://www.simscale.com/workbench/?pid=5754093944453626750&mi=spec%3Ada5e030b-9b50-4b2c-a893-9fe0c99a62d1%2Cservice%3ASIMULATION%2Cstrategy%3A18
