Hi
I am asking this for finding a solution to simulate a FRP manhole cap regarding its maximum loadability under a certain failure criteria.
It is important to analyze the arrangement of layers and …
Is there any way for this in Simscale?
thanks
Hi @Vahabha13, thanks for posting on the forum and welcome to the SimScale Community ![]()
I’m not familiar with this particular application, could you provide some more details? E.g.:
- What is this FRP component and what is it made of?
- How is it built?
- Does your assembly contain one or multiple solid bodies?
- Which kind of boundary conditions do you expect to insert?
- Would you need any non-linearities? (for instance Physical Contacts, non-linear strains etc.)
Maybe some of our structural analysis tutorials help in shedding light on this topic.
Cheers
Igor
Hi
FRP is fiber reinforced polymer (E.g Carbon fiber composite and…) and like other composite materials is not orthotropic. So they have different layers with different characteristics.
The boundary conditions and other set up can be varied regarding each case.
Thanks
Hi @Vahabha13,
SimScale can simulate with Orthotropic material properties for linear elastic material regimes. Take a look here to learn more:
