Viscous Force

I want to analyse the hull resistance of a ferry. Is the total resistance in x direction already included in pressure force x ? Or do I have to add viscous force and also add friction resistance ?

Hi @flodderich,

The total resistance in x is the sum of the pressure and the viscous components in the x-direction.

So do i have to do a manual calculation on the friction of the hull regarding the roughness ?

Hi,

In this case, you should consider explicitly defining the wall roughness in your simulation - I’ve written a short article some months ago, showing the workflow in SimScale.
