I’m running a CFD research project studying F1 aerodynamics — specifically how S-Duct front-chassis geometry affects front-axle downforce loss when a car follows another through turbulent wake. This requires 6 simulation runs (baseline + dirty-air conditions at varying following distances) using the Incompressible finite-volume solver in the SimScale Community tier. My geometry (“f1_2026_cfd_v2 parts”, Body137) was imported from Onshape as a STEP file.
Fix Interferences flagged several geometry faults on Body137. I’ve successfully resolved 4 “Self-intersecting face” faults and several “Face-face inconsistency” faults using Delete Face with the Heal option (or Leave Open for tiny sub-millimeter sliver faces).
However, 3 remaining “Touching edges” faults won’t resolve:
- Edge 18040@Body137 and Edge 18096@Body137 (these are the same ones on the other two faults as well)
When I select the two faces sharing this edge and apply Delete Face → Heal, I get: “Healing failed. The selected healing method can not be applied to the model. Please select a different option.”
I can’t use “Leave Open” instead, because this specific fault sits on a large structural panel (appears to be sidepod/floor area, roughly 0.1–0.2m) — deleting it would create a real hole in the bodywork, not a harmless micro-gap like my earlier fixes.
This currently blocks Domain selection in my “Incompressible” simulation setup, with the message: “This geometry contains faults and cannot be used for simulation.”
