Thermal comfort in classroom, diverging in domain plott

Hello,

I am simulating the thermal comfort in a classroom. If I have understood it correctly, the convergence plotts will help me to validate my solution. The fact is that the temperature parameter never converge in the domain plot. I have tried multiple changes; simplifying my model, making better mesh, changing the boundary conditions and so on. Can someone help me understand if the simulation is OK even though it diverges in the domain plott, or is there something I can do to fix it?

Hello Hanne,

I see that you have multiple runs within your simulation project,
can you please refer to which run the issue occurs, or which one do you want to have checked?

You might also have a look at this page which explain how to decide if a simulation converges.

Best regards

Hi Hanne,
Ok, I’m no expert, but here is my logic, to check if your results are reasonable. I have followed the great convergence document from @SBlock and then looked at a Simscale CHT tutorial “Advanced Tutorial: Thermal Comfort in a Theater Room through Ventilation” and looked at their final convergence plots.

I’d have to say as a novice your simulation convergence looks a lot better than the Simscale convergence plots from the CHT tutorial and generally your convergence plots when compared to the “How to Check Convergence of a CFD Simulation?” looks very good, except possibly for the Outlets plot for Uy. As a novice for a double check, I’d push the simulation out a bit longer to see if the Uy plot becomes more stable, as it has a slight wavy increasing output between 700 &1e3 seconds , so as per the convergence tutorial suggests to click the double >> arrows on the Finished simulation run & extend it.

The only other thing to do might be to use the Results Control and monitor the faces of the inlet and outlet, similar to Fig6 in the convergence guide.

Wish my convergence residuals were as good as yours.

Kind regards
Ted

Thank you so much for you help, Ted. I really appreciate it!!
I will try to extend my simulation time.

Best regards
