I’m quite new to CFD tools and this really stumped me.
In my project I am trying to simulate different Impeller designs and gather the volume flow rate at different RPMs to later compare with revised designs. I am using Incompressible fluid flow with transient AMI for simulation of the spinning impeller.
I keep on running into divergence issues, I initially had to change the Numerics but that seems to be fine for now.
From a glance the setup looks fine as I followed the AI assistant. But I can’t find where the simulation is going wrong, I’d really appreciate some help with this.
the project can be shared if asked.
For me, the keyword in this case is ‘AMI’. This would be a transient simulation and some pretty important parameters, found under simulation control, have to cautiously chosen based on the dimensions of the CAD and other factors like boundary conditions, speed, etc.
Before we dive deeper into the simulation settings however, have you already tried running MRF simulations for steady state results? Is there any reason you chose to run transient simulations with AMI instead? Since you mentioned your main intention is to get the volume flow rate, I think MRF should by itself do the trick, no?
Feel free to share the project URL here andshare it with support so we can take a closer look at the settings before we can comment more specifically.
I have ran some MRF simulations for this Impeller design and it ran smoothly thanks to your help. I think the AMI simulation will give more detailed results but I am going to leave it to the side.
