Simulating indoor ventilation as well as outdoor ventilation

Hi, I am trying to simulate the indoor ventilation for a building but at the same time I must consider the influence of other building blocks on the outdoor ventilation. So how to do such analysis? Does it work if I just create a external volume for the whole neighbourhood and some holes on my main building without creating internal volume?

Hi, and thanks for using the forum!

If you start from the solid model of your buildings, and the internal and external spaces are connected, then the external flow region creation will also fill the interior:

You will be able to perform the simulation and it will take into account the external and internal flows.

Hi,

To limit the complexity of such a simulation, we usually do this in two times :

  • first an “outside run” with your buildings shells and wind parameters,
  • then a run with only your inside volume taken into account. You apply to your inlets and outlets the pressure conditions that you can exctract from the first run.

This usually gives accurate results at lower costs.

Many thanks!

Many thanks for help. But how can I extract the conditions from the run?

Oh !
I’m not a simscale user yet so I d’ont practicaly know how do it here.
Assuming you have a limited number of inlets and outlets, you can just note their respective conditions in a table and then manually put them back as BC for the second run.

A SimScale user might have a special trick in their sleeve, but that’s all I have, sorry.
