Reference Area value for Ahmed Body

Hello,
I am confused about which reference area value should I use to simulate my ahmed body geometry. I have understood that the reference area value for an ahmed body is of 0.112m2, but since I am working with a half model (using symmetry to make simulations faster) I should use half of that value. But I have seen many projects in simscale using half models too and using a refrence area value of 0.112m2 instead of half of it…

Why is this? Should I use a value of 0.112m2 or half?

Hi!

The reference area is a projection of the car (used for the simulation) based on a front view. Since you have just half the car for the simulation, the area is also divided by two.
