Need Advice on Setting Up Accurate Boundary Conditions for External Aerodynamics Simulation

Hello there,

I am new to SimScale and have been experimenting with external aerodynamics simulations for a personal project involving a car body design. While I have managed to set up the geometry and mesh it fairly well, I am struggling a bit with properly defining the boundary conditions to get accurate and stable results.

Specifically, I am unsure about the best practices for assigning inlet and outlet boundaries when simulating airflow over a complex geometry like a car. I have read through the documentation and watched a few tutorials, but I still find myself confused when it comes to the correct placement of these boundaries and how to handle turbulence parameters.

Should I be using a velocity inlet or a pressure inlet in this case? And for the outlet, would a fixed pressure outlet suffice, or should I consider another type?

Thanks in advance for your help and assistance.

Hello,

There are some tutorials that focus on this exact topic (like this one). Have you already gone through those?
