When automatic extrusion meshing is off, the mesh quality is inadequate. When automatic extrusion meshing is on, meshing won’t complete. Please advise how to resolve this issue.

When mesh quality is inadequate, you can increase fineness of the overall mesh or add refinements to improve it. Link for help: Mesh Quality | Mesh Visualization Tips | SimScale
I tried to change the surface element type to ‘Triangular’ and it returned a mesh within acceptable limits as follows:
It gives me a similar (not same) result now also for the ‘Quad dominant’ setting as follows:
Clearly, the quad dominant has worse quality with the current parameters and this puts it again outside of acceptable ranges for a mesh. If you want to explore or force a more structured mesh, you can also play around with extrusion refinement options and select the desired start / end faces.
