Magnetostatic analysis not running

I want to get analysis on a halbach array with iron back plate to clamp the weak field side. I have specified all permanent magnets and their directions with normal fields, and the backplate is just cast iron (soft magnet). I have air between the magnets and backplate. The volumes are all separated but imported from a single file because there’s around 2 dozen magnets. The runs won’t start due to this recurring error:

I would provide a link but I can’t due to academic security, it is open for SimScale support though.

Thanks for any assistance!

Hello,

All Emag studies require you to create a flow region around the parts (even if you have vacuum), otherwise the magnetic/electric fields are not going to develop and the two sides of your assembly are not going to interact with each other. See one of the Emag tutorials for reference: https://www.simscale.com/docs/tutorials/#electromagnetics

Definitely user error then haha. I did have a quick go through one of the electromagnetics tutorials but I didn’t read them properly, my fault. Thanks for letting me know as I was fiddling around with ANSYS maxwell but specifying the pole directions in that was a pain. I even setup a flow region in maxwell to do the simulation and it never crossed my mind to do the same in simscale. I can probably get everything I need done now which is great. The results should also tell me if the iron backing plate is saturated right? In case I need to thicken it. N42 30x10x5 is what I am using, with 4mm thick iron plate.
