How can i measure the thrust generated by my propeller

It is harder and it takes longer to provide support without full details. To speed up the process and quickly solve your issues this is a reminder to post as much information as you possibly can:

  • A description of the project and what you are trying to achieve
  • An description of what is happening, screenshots or error logs are helpful
  • [Important] Always provide a link to your project so that it is easy to find.

I am comparing 2 types of propellers, at different RPMs, one is a conventional propeller and the other is a toroidal propeller and I am having problems to find the thrust that is generated by the propeller. I have tried using the result control, forces and moments but it gives various values and I do not know which is of the thrust generated in this direction shown in the image.

if you cant access my project its public in my profile

Hey @fernando_ferro ,

This would be similar to let’s say how a lift is calculated over an aircraft wing. We already have a tutorial about that here: Compressible Flow Around a Wing | Tutorial | SimScale

The force and moments result available under the successful simulation should give you the lift / thrust force generated around the blade surfaces. In the case of the tutorial, pressure force (lift) is in positive Y direction since the model has an orientation of the wing like that (see below images and notice the orientation cube)

In your case, you would have to check the z direction pressure force.

With the boundary conditions you have assigned, it seems to be about 300 N of thrust.

Let us know if you need more support!
