Fatal IO Error: An Error Occured - CFD Simulation on FSAE Intake System

Hello this is urgent as I’m currently being pushed by deadlines :")

I am currently working on an intake system for FSAE competition. This is the model i’ve came up with. I uploaded it from Solidworks as (.SLDPRT) and then extracted its internal flow volume. I want to make a CFD simulation on how the air moves inside the intake system starting from the inlet of intake restrictor until the outlet of each of the 4 runners. I want to also see how much mass flow rate at the exit of the runners so that i can choose the best design for my team.

When i extracted the internal flow volume, no error appeared and I also checked for gap and interferences on the model, there wasn’t any. So i assumed the model is fine. Then I went to simulate it as Compressible flow simulation using K-Epsilon and Steady State settings. I use Air as the material and proceeded to make the mesh with 7 as its mesh quality. I left everything as automatic as I dont really understand any of the others.

When i run the mesh generation, an error occured :

Based on the explanation from Simscale, there wasn’t anything i can do though:

I checked the solidworks 3D model and there wasn’t any problem there also.

The geometry shouldn’t be out of the norm to as this shape is widely used in the FSAE community.

Please help anyone

Btw, I’m sorry but I can’t change the settings to public share my project, so If anyone feels they can help, please leave an email at the comment section.

Hey JonAtmaja,

Thanks for reporting the bug.

Please share your project URL with us and share it with support. The project would remain private and only the SimScale team would be able to look into the issue.

Thanks!

Best,
Satvik

Thank you Shenoy, I’ve shared it with support. Hope Simscale could fix it soon!
