Calculation of k for turbulence modelling

Hi,
I am trying to run a AMI Simulation. I like to run this with k-Omega-SST. But I still don’t know how to calculate k and Omega. I tried to understand many literature but it is still not clear. Maybe somebody can explaint this in a easy way?

Thanks.

Hy @vivien

you can fine a detailed documentation about turbulence modeling here

@ Anware: I already studied this page, but I don’t know how I can calculate the turbulence intensity with the formula on the page? I don’t have u’.

ok @vivien

here is the formulas

Turbulent Kinetic Energy (TKE), k

Capture

Evaluation of turbulent dissipation

for more info @1318980 will get back to you

So, for an impeller I=0,1, or?

Hi @vivien. Very much depends upon your setup. For an impeller you are probably drawing fluid in through a pipe, in this case you could calculate turbulent Intensity from the formula highlighted in this article:
Defining Turbulent Boundary Conditions

equation 4.

Darren
