To get a y plus value in the desired range is incredibly tricky, time-consuming and sometimes impossible to achieve for complex flows (large rotating geometry for example). If we could add or reduce cells at the wall to achieve a Y+ range at a specified number of iterations results could be achieved much quicker and to a much better accuracy.
In this image, the difficulty is the y+ value of the blade, unless I split the faces there is no way I can achieve the desired range.
The parameters in which I imagine having to define for this refinement are:
Minimum y+ value
Maximum y+ value
Frequency of refinement (in iterations or time steps depending upon type of sim)
Face selection (because some faces might be modeled differently or not at all)
Multiple refinements should be available for refining different face
