Hello SimScale team,
I am running a solid mechanics FEM model [link] in which I wanted to know if I can vary material properties, for example viscosity variation in the X axis direction, within a sub-domain component.
Thank you
Viven

Hello Viven,
When it comes to material properties specifically, oftentimes you will find options for temperature-dependent definitions (e.g. CHTv2 for density, viscosity, etc.), but not for coordinate-dependent definitions.
As far as coordinates go, you will find some properties that allow for orthotropic definitions, such as the Young’s modulus.
If I may ask, what is your use case for this? If you are really looking to shift a property along a certain axis in a FEA case, one option might be to create several volumes with different material assignments.
Cheers
