Trouble simulating turbulence

Hi,

I am trying to simulate the effects of different objects on the hull of a ship. I created a simulation that consists of a flat plate (ship’s hull) and an object. I intentionally placed the object far downstream to allow full development of turbulence. I am still new to CFD and wasn’t sure what setting to use for the boundary layers, and went for a finer mesh than might be necessary (I don’t mind the extra computing time).
Since the medium is seawater, I would expect vortices to come off the flat plate, as well as the object, however it seems as though the flow remains laminar. Could you please help me understand the problem?

Thank you!

Interesting,

What is your reynolds number?

around 6e7

V = 4 m/s, L = 15m (leading edge), kinematic viscosity = 1.004e-6
