Thermal Interface Material (TIM)

I’d like to use a resistance between two surfaces to model a thermal interface material (TIM) between two surfaces. Is there a way to do this? Or do I need to model the TIM in detail. I am concerned about modeling this way due to the higher mesh needed to accurately model such a thin material.

Any tips?

Thanks,
Jonah

Hey Jonah!

Thanks a lot for your query. Unfortunately, as of now you can’t do that in SimScale. While the good news is that it is already on our feature request road-map and will be available once its priority is reached. I can’t give you an exact deadline of the availability but we are looking forward to push it soon.

So for now you have to model the TIM layer.

Best,
Ahmed
