Simulation download failed

Hi,

I’m having an issue with downloading my simulation results. The results are rather big (about 40 GB per simulation). The download keeps failing randomly in the middle of downloading (first happened at 24 GB, then at 2 GB, now at 8 GB, …). This happens with multiple simulations. I’ve tried downloading on different networks, computers and different browsers and nothing seems to help.

Does anyone have any idea what to do?

Hi, thanks for using the forum and reporting the issue.

It seems to me that this is due to unstable internet connection in the time it takes to download such a big file.

May I ask, why are your results so large? Have you considered reducing the output steps?

The results are so large, because I need to perform frequency analysis on the data over time.

I am using a 50 MB/s internet connection, but the download speed on average is about 3 MB/s. This happens on different networks as well. Could it be a problem with SimScale’s servers?

I am not sure where the issue might be. SimScale uses the same server providers as other cloud services, thus they should be reliable.

Please share the URL to your project so I can have a look and try to download the files myself.

This is the project:

I am trying to download ‘Run 19 - v2, 15 m’ under the ‘Detailed truck’ simulation. Run 17 and run 18 also failed a few times, but eventually I managed to download them.

A workaround would be to use a result control item to extract only the quantities of interest, such as aerodynamic forces/coefficients over a set of surfaces, or point data for flow variables.

That wouldn’t work for me as I understand I would have to rerun the simulations.

But thank you! I was able to complete the download today. I hope I will be able to download the remaining two as well.
