I am running a transient case study and the running progress is 0% for almost 6 hours… I am wondering what would be the problem since its my first time to run a transient case study.
Hi!
Transient simulations require a little bit more caution than steady-state runs, especially with mesh/simulation control, and numerics. Here’s a pretty insightful webinar that goes into these in more detail.
With that being said, transient simulations are usually more demanding then steady-state studies, for which reason it is very common to see users running steady-state simulations initially and then (if needed) transitioning to transient.
What objective do you have for this study? Depending on the objective you can get the necessary information with a steady-state simulation instead of going transient.
Cheers
Hi! I’m working on a project. My simulation type is stead-state. And I pressed the run simulation like 11pm and it was still %0 this morning. I’d be glad if you could help me, ı have very short time to finish my project
Hi,
It’s difficult to tell without looking at the project (I cannot find any public or shared projects under your name), but assuming that the simulation is steady-state, some potential problems are:
- The most likely one is that you are requesting way too many iterations in the simulation control. The default setting is End time = 1000 and delta t = 1, which will give you 1000 iterations
- The other option is that you are running a mesh that is very fine for academic users (e.g. in the order of 20-30M cells or more) while requesting a lot of iterations for the simulation
I hope this helps.
