Rotating zones size

Hello!
I want to simulate rotation of electromotor rotor and the resulting air flow. Rotor is placed inside the stator and the air gap between them is ~1mm. The rotor diameter is D=180 mm. In the instructions about rotating zones it’s said that the rotating zone should be 0.05D offset to the rotating part which would be 9mm in my case and this would result is rotating zone penetrating the stator. What is a good rotating zone size if I want to simulate this?

Hi!

This rule just provides some guidance. In your case, use the value that allow you to correctly capture your model and the gap. Just make sure you have a proper mesh refinement on the gap.
