'Release of power in a hollow sphere - Code_Aster TPLV06' simulation project by ahmedhussain18

I created a new simulation project called 'Release of power in a hollow sphere - Code_Aster TPLV06':

In this project a steady-state thermal analysis of a hollow sphere using volume heat source boundary condition is demonstrated.

More of my public projects can be found here.

For detailed study please go to Release of power in a hollow sphere (Code_Aster TPLV06) documentation.

In this project the functionality of the thermal solver for volume heat source on SimScale platform is validated. The geometry used was a portion of hollow sphere as shown in figure below.

Four mesh types were considered; linear and quadratic hexahedrals and tetrahedrals. The hexahedral meshes were created locally and than uploaded to SimScale platform. Whereas, the tetrahedral meshes were created using automatic tetrahedralization on SimScale platform. The quadratic tetrahedral and hexahedral mesh are shown in the figures below.

Steady-state thermal analysis was performed. The inner and outer surface of hollow sphere were given a constant temperature of 20 °C. Whereas, whole model was given a volume heat source of 100 W/m³. The results below shows the temperature and heat flux contour plot.

Moreover, the figure below below shows the temperature contour plot of one of the mesh with marked temperature values at distance 1.25, 1.5 and 1.75 meters respectively from the origin.
