With a little more digging, I think there are two theories ‘out there’ which should both apply to ‘relax factor value optimization’
- Varying Relax factor values should produce the SAME converged results (LuckyTran++)…
- LOWER residual values should produce more accurate results, if the results are stable…
Unfortunately, we have data where these two theories can not be universally applied to relax factor optimization…
This Sim Run has all LOWER relax factors AND all LOWER residuals,
Sim Run: 2372i32c117m62.9chr_Relax-DEFAULTS shows a CFD CL=1.140 +3% and CFD CD=0.01507 +29%
than this one:
Sim Run: 5000i32c712m380.3chr_Relax-p0.35u0.75kw0.35 CFD CL=1.137 +2% and CFD CD=0.01532 +31%
