Pedestrian comfort : minimum size considered between two walls

Hi,

I have a somewhat complex topography model, and sometimes two surfaces are not merged but very close (like 1 cm)
I don’t want this gap, but it takes too long to change this model.
So I would like know if simscal is going to mesh in this tiny gap (which I don’t want), or not (which I want) ?

Is there a minimum space for which simscal stops meshing in a Pedestrian comfort simulation

Here is an example, and its zoom:

Hello and welcome to the SimScale Forum!

When it comes to gaps for PWC/LBM analysis, the rule of thumb is very simple:

  • If the gap is smaller than the local cell size of the mesh, it is completely disregarded
  • If the gap is larger than the local cell size of the mesh, it will be accounted for

In your case, the gap is very tiny (1 cm), so it will end up getting ignored during the simulation. The local cells should have edges larger than 1 cm in that region.

Cheers
