Meshing a CFD Simulation

Hi All,

Im simulating a battery pack module and I have the following settings which I feel to be straight forward.

Essentially it is a box with some vent ports, and a bigger port for a fan location, I am trying to simulate the tempature of this box as an item inside heats up and the fan is actively flowing.

My settings are:

Boundary inlet velocity = to outlet
boundary outlet velocity = to inlet
Absolute Power source on product in box (280W)
Walls (applied to small holes in my box).

I go to mesh and have done so at various coarse setting 5-10 and yesterday/last week I got the mesh to work, but not the simulation… it kept saying my probe results had the same name and kept failing.

I tried to simplify and reduce faces this week and now my mesh wont work at any levels. Its using ally more core hours and I cant seem to get 1 simulation running now.

My mesh is the main issue it seems and im unsure that refining it will help as that adds time.
I have reduced the parts in the model to make it simple, but now my main error is the CAD minimum tolerance is not suitable for the mesh.
I try to run anyways byt im getting up to 200min and still not a complete mesh.

Dont know why its not working like it was last week. Even when I had more parts in the model, but it is odd.

any help is appreciated

Hi @nreny77, thanks for posting on the forum and welcome to the SimScale Community :handshake:

Unfortunately it’s a bit hard to pinpoint where the problem could potentially be without having a look at your simulation in particular. Could you share a link to it? Here’s a guide that teaches you how:

However, concerning the error you’re getting

Maybe there are still some small faces left. One quick test could be to increase the small feature suppression of the mesh - this would cap the lower value of cells’ edge lenghts.

Cheers
