I am attempting to simulate the magnetic vector field of a C-shaped split bore MRI design with an iron yoke for magnetic shielding. Each bore of the MRI (one top bore and one bottom) has a current coil for the simulation. My primary goal is to see how magnetic field lines from the MRI are deflected through the iron yoke (giant gray top donut).
I am running into an issue in the simulation. I have used the two coils pointed out above to create coils in the simulation. They are closed coils, 6000 turns 5A current coils each. The simulation is only producing a magnetic field inside of the coils, when there should also be a magnetic field in the flow region (especially going through the center of the two current coils, like an MRI). I’ve been struggling with how to solve this issue.
I also just went back to the original CAD model and removed the shell on the MRI support structure (the C-shaped part) and increased the shell thickness in the poles to 5cm thick (the cylindrical components which house the coils). This greatly improved the non-orthogonality metric in my mesh after making some refinements, but the error listed above still persists in my solver log after rerunning the electromagnetics simlulation. Please help!!
The error was EMW_ERROR_143: No probing solid body found!
Update:
I kept troubleshooting and saw I was getting this error in my solver log:
Started on : Sat Dec 6 08:02:48 2025
Initializing study properties
Non Linear Residual Error: 1e-06
7 Solid(s) found in the current study
EMW_ERROR_143: No probing solid body found!
Type: Error!
Cure: Check the input file or model to ensure that it is properly formatted and that all necessary data is included. Make sure that the model includes at least one solid geometry. Verify the material assignment to ensure that it is accurate and complete. Ensure that all elements are correctly assigned to the appropriate material properties.
Ended on : Sat Dec 6 08:02:48 2025
EMW_WARNING_60017: Resources estimation is not done for this solving session. Consider using the argument -RunMode with value Estimation, before doing full run to check if resources are available.
Type: Warning!
I went through and renamed all of my parts to have unique names and re-imported the CAD file (since they were all named part 1) to see if this was the issue, and it was not, so I’m not sure what’s causing that error.
Hi,
Purely judging from the images that you posted (I don’t think I currently have access to this project), it looks like you’re clamping out small vectors, so they are not showing.
Here’s a quick thing that you can do to check if there is a magnetic field developing in the flow region: adjust the upper bound of the legend to a low-ish value (e.g. 1) to see if the flow region remains blue.
