Issue with model convergence

Hello SimScale team,

I am running a solid mechanics deformation model [link1] and am running into some unusual case of timestep falling below the threshold issue.

I am testing the effect of gravity on a solid earth system (model domain of size ~ a few 100kms). I had run similar models without such issue with somewhat different modeling parameters and here is the link to that project [link2].

The model under link1 is not running even with very low body force values, which is very surprising.

Please take a look at it and suggest some possible solution for the same.

Thanks for posting your question!
I confess that I didn’t understand the main purpose that you have with the simulation, so I didn’t change the setup configuration (materials, boundary conditions, mesh), but I changed the contact definition and assigned a face for the remote displacement (which was missing in the setup), and then it worked well.

Please feel free to make a copy and then do your own improvements.
