I'm getting an error while trying to create an Automated Snappy Hex Mesh

Hello,

while trying to create a automated hex-dominant mesh for an internal flow simulation I always get a FOAM fatal error. You can find my project here: SimScale

I tried it several times with different properties for fineness and computing cores. Does it have anything to do with only using surfaces and no solids?

Hi @KLemke,

I also had a similar error once. I think it is connected to some transfer problems. Try starting meshing process again - it worked for me.

Best,
Andrzej

Hi @KLemke,

I took a quick look - could be related to the IGES file (I’ll investigate further). Any chance you could upload your model in STEP format? That’s the generally more robust format that is recommended.

Let me know how that goes!

Best,

David

@dheiny Thank you! Generating a mesh from a STEP format worked pretty well!

Hi @KLemke,

glad it worked. Our experience with IGES files is, that there seem to be more differences between different IGES exporter depending on the CAD software that exports it. STEP in general seems to be more robust, that’s why we recommend it in general.

Nevertheless your failing mesh operation with IGES is being looked at.

Best,

David
