Heat Dissipation of Metallic Enclousure - Realisitc Values?

Hi,

just did the first try on simulating the housing for a small electronics enclousure.
The project just contains the aluminium enclousure and a heat source.

From the dimensions and first real world measurement I would expect a temperature rise from around 25 K under natural convection.

The simulation gives me < 5 K temperature rise.
I already doublechecked the values but I dont see any obvious error.

Would be great if someone could give it a look.

Thanks
Frank

Hi!

Simulation setup looks ok. In order to gain confidence in the results I would:

  • Setup a Result control item - volume on the enclosure, in order to measure the temperature and see the convergence. It might be the case that the value has not converged and it needs more iterations.
  • Based on the temperature results above, perform some mesh independence analysis, until the temperature convergence has been reached.
