I am working on a composite that replicates the heart for a school project, so I wanted to be able to test its tensile strength. But the issue I am experiencing is setting up the simulation properly because it either fails or if it does complete it looks very weird, for example the walls over lap, it becomes incredibly misshapen, etc. I have asked for help previously but none have been able to solve my issue, if anyone would be so kind to help me be able to set it up or help guide me it would be much appreciated.
Hi,
If I may ask, how were the hyper elastic coefficients obtained? From looking at the results, the two options are:
- Either the pressure is too high
- Or the material is way too soft, given the current hyper elastic definition
I’d suggest, if possible, that you start with a linear elastic material behavior and build complexity from there.
Cheers
I determined the hyperelastic coefficeint based on my Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio using the standard equation for a neo-Hookean material. I originally started with a linear elastic model, but if you look at static 1 and static 2, you will see that issues occurred with it as well. Also, I don’t really know what to do for any of these. I am not skilled with Simscale, and I have looked at the guides, but they haven’t helped me.
Cheers
Just sending this to send a notification in case you didn’t see my response.

Hi, thanks for the additional information. I’m of course not familiar with your project (e.g. materials and pressures that you’re working with), but given that the excessive bulging is not expected, the options that come to mind are the ones that I mentioned above.
Cheers
