"Each face must have only a single boundary condition or interface assignment

Hi SimScale community,

I’m currently working on a Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) simulation for a transformer radiator panel. When trying to run the simulation, I encountered the following error:

“Please ensure that each face only has a single boundary condition or interface assignment. Multiple boundary condition or interface assignments for the following entities…”

From what I understand, this means that some faces have been assigned both a boundary condition and a contact interface. I suspect it might be related to the faces near the inlet and outlet, or those between the solid and fluid regions.

I’ve attached a screenshot showing the geometry and boundary condition setup. Could anyone help me identify how to resolve this error? Should I remove the boundary condition from the overlapping faces and leave them as contact interfaces only?

Thank you in advance for your support!

Best regards,
Alfatha

  • Since I can only assume what the problem might be, I would guess it has to do with the “Wall” boundary condition being assigned to interfaces. Keep in mind interfaces cannot receive boundary conditions in CHT, so you need to have them only as interfaces. If you’re assigning an External Wall Heat flux to have a way for the heat to leave the system, only assign the outer surfaces of your domain, not the inner ones.

Cheers
