I’m working on a solar collector underneath a synthetic grass field, and I want to know the effect of the solar load on the grass and what the temperature gradient of the underlying layers is.
I have modeled a cross section of the collector field. The top layer is air, which is set to transparent in all the boundary conditions I’ve set for it. The walls of all the other layers I’ve set to opaque and adiabetic (as I don’t want the solar load the heat up the sides of the underground layers). The next layer is also set to opaque.
When I ran my simulation, my results showed me no heat being exchanged between the layers, or the water heating up at all. It seems like maybe the solar load isn’t making it to the grass layer underneath, but I’m not sure how to actually get this to work. I’ve added some extra screenshots of the results. Any tips would really be helpful.
