Hi, I’m having some problems with the resolution of a particular Conjugate Heat Transfer (IBM) analysis. I’ve already done other analysis on the same geometry and they had no problems. The problems appeared since I toggled ON the compressible option and the simulation results in : “An error occurred. Learn more” but if I’m clicking on the button Learn more the link says that the failure of the simulation is due to an unknown problem.
I’ll make a brief description of my analysis (the one that gave me problems is defined as “Run 4”):
I have an Heat Exchanger geometry (in my case is a finned plate heat exchanger). I’ve defined both my internal flow volume (mixture) and my external flow volume (air). Then I chose my type of simulation (Conjugate Heat Transfer (IBM)), I’ve also chosen my geometry, I’ve written the gravity on the model section and I’ve assigned the materials to the 2 fluids and to the solid parts.
THIS ONE IS THE SECTION THAT MOST PROBABLY IS GIVING ME PROBLEMS BECAUSE IS THE ONLY SECTION THAT I’VE CHANGED WITH RESPECT TO THE OTHER SIMULATIONS THAT WENT ALL FINE → Initial Condition.
I’ve defined two subdomains for pressure (for the 2 fluids with 2 different pressures (imagine I’m not on sea level so ambient air is not at 101325Pa)). I’ve defined three subdomains for temperature (this is not a problem I’ve already done it for the other simulations).
Then I defined the BOUNDARY CONDITIONS:
-Wall (as always)
-Velocity inlet (as always)
-Pressure outlet (I’ve written the same value as previously imported in initial condition)
I’ve set the same mesh as the others simulation.
Simscale runs the simulation till 14/15% and then it gives me back the error.
Is it possible that I’m putting wrong pressure values?
Or the error is due to other parameters?
Thanks in advance
Hi @SimoneMorgante, thanks for posting on the forum and welcome to the SimScale Community!
Unfortunately, we can’t pinpoint where the problem is without taking a look at your project specifically. Could you please share the project URL? This guide explains how to do that in case you need it:
Also, when you see the generic “An error occurred” message, it’s likely a bug—or at least, the error message should be more informative. Please don’t delete this failed run, and as soon as you share the project link, I can report it to the team to investigate further.
Cheers,
Igor
