An error from maximum number of iterations being exceeded

I am trying to simulate a hypersonic glide missile, that is based of the Falcon HTV-2, traveling at Mach 5 (1715 m/s).

When I simulate it I receive an error that says: “Maximum number of iterations exceeded when calculating temperature from a thermodynamic potential. This may be caused by low-quality mesh producing unrealistic pressure in a few cells or inappropriate boundary conditions, fluid properties or time step. Inspect fields for large values in the last time step.”

I made refinements to different locations on my mesh but still received this error, so I am not sure what changes to make now and how to correct this.

I hope that you can help!

Hello kalema,
thanks for reaching out to us here in the forum.

In regards to the mesh please have a look at this article on how to improve your mesh.

Also In regards to your wind tunnel volume, please have a look at this image, to access the dimensions of your fluid domain. Also you can use the symmetry of your object to reduce the Simulation runtime, which will allow you to further refine your mopel.

Best regards
Sebastian

Just to add to what Seb said, Mach 5 is too much for our Compressible solver to handle. Usually we recommend to go for a maximum of 0.7 to 0.8 Mach.
