'LMP Sports Car' simulation project by Tugwell

I created a new simulation project called 'LMP Sports Car':

Aerodynamic analysis of basic lmp type sports car

More of my public projects can be found here.

Hey @Tugwell!

Nice and clean geometry! I think you may also have to close your geometry from the back before meshing it. One can have a look at this project for reference: SimScale

I look forward to awesome results out of your simulation.

Good luck!

Thanks Ahmed! I will check it out, and look forward to learning simscale!

Hi @Tugwell, I created a basic mesh and slightly finer mesh with refinements. You can see it in the project i copied. If you want to increase how fine the mesh is, you can add more refinements. I have already added 1 surface refinement. This is a good starting point.

I hope this helps, and if there are any other questions, just let me know!

Thanks @kristina,

I had to increase the size of the domain, and ended up with a very large mesh, so to try and create a more sophisticated mesh, I used this Tutorial as a method:

I am having some errors, and the mesh is taking very long to generate. Could you have a brief look at my method, and see if you can make some recommendations?

Hey @Tugwell!

This is not an error. This is just a warning since this refinement is done without assigning it to any topological entity. This warning will not effect your result.

For meshing, may be @kristina can help you

Best,

Hi @kristina,

I am really battling to get this project to mesh properly, I have spent a lot of time trying to figure it out, and used up about half my core hours so far, so I think I need to ask for some help.

Cold you please have a look at my mesh.

Best regards,

Geoff

Hi @ahmedhussain18,

Can you maybe assist me with this?

@AsadAli is working on this right now - will get back to you soon

Hi, @Tugwell Your geometry is nice. The problem is you are giving very high degree of mesh refinements during meshing. That is why your mesh size is huge. Even if you get a mesh, your simulation run will take ages to complete. Look at the mesh size

Mesh refinements are trade of between mesh quality and mesh size. Try to keep your mesh size as small as possible with acceptable results. Do not use unnecessary mesh refinements. For the reference we made a mesh using your geometry. You can work on this mesh and change it according to your requirements. Here is the link for this project.
If you need any further help, feel free to contact. Have fun
Cheers

Thanks Asad, much appreciated. I’ll check it out.

Would you be able to assist me with the rest of the simulation?

Does simscale offer any consulting services?

Hi @Tugwell I am glad that we were able to get you some good meshes.

I will send you an email with more information regarding our consulting services.
