Anyone who's lived in a studio or small apartment with a recirc range hood knows how useless they are. My engineering brain couldn't help but attempt to visualize the airflow and try to solve the problem of having my entire apartment smell like sauteed chicken and stir-fry. Now I'll use CFD to verify and validate potential solutions. Analyzing apartment airflow with the range hood on while cooking with windows open, door open, and a small fan on the floor blowing up into the kitchen. Using an iterative approach to understand how ventilation affects the distribution/removal of cooking fumes through out my apartment.
