I am an Engineering student currently working on my thesis regarding Bioclimatic Building Design and Renewable Energy. My project focuses on the energy retrofit of a residential building using an "Attached Sunspace" system combined with an active air circulation network (Hybrid Solar Heating). I intend to use SimScale’s CFD capabilities to simulate the internal airflow and thermal distribution within the building. Specifically, I plan to model a "Convective Heat Transfer" scenario where a mechanical fan transfers warm air from the sunspace into the living zones through a duct system. My goal is to visualize the velocity vectors and temperature stratification to validate the sizing of the fan (approx. 500 m³/h) and the placement of the supply/return vents. SimScale will help me analyze whether the proposed HVAC design provides adequate thermal comfort without causing drafts, and verify the efficiency of the heat distribution across different rooms.
